Our 46th Wedding Anniversary – wow we must be old!!!

Being our 46th Wedding Anniversary I was hoping to get the windsurfing out of the way early today so Mag and I could do something in the afternoon, this worked out well as it was sunny in the morning, clouding over around midday with a chance of a shower. Once again the wind was WSW and after a gusty session on a lumpy River Orwell yesterday I was keen to avoid another session there so I headed down to The Manor and parked at Squiz Lane at 8.30! It was lovely too, being cross off the sea looked fairly smooth and there was white water a couple of hundred metres offshore so I quickly set-up my foil board and it looked breezy so took a chance with my 5.2 again. An easy launch today as I headed towards the windline at 9, at first I thought I had rigged too small but when I reached the wind I was quickly up and flying doing nice long runs out to the shipping channel in lovely sunshine, just my and a few yachts sailing up the coast, I had brilliant fun whizzing past the yachts a couple of metres astern getting a cheery wave from all:) Nothing overly fast this morning as probably needed a slightly bigger sail just great mellow foiling playing with the swell:) The key was not to sail too close to the beach where the wind went patchy and I only dropped one gybe, the wind eased so I headed slowly ashore but I had been out the best part of 2 hours sailing nearly 25 miles, a massive improvement on yesterdays session, the open sea is so much better! I was packed up and heading for home at 11.30 and I had only driven about 3 miles having the whole seafront to myself although Al Wizz did head out on his fin board as I was leaving!

Monday 26th May - walk *** – Felixstowe Ferry to Kings Fleet – mainly cloudy and breezy.

After a top morning windsurf foil I was home early leaving me time to send a few pics to the TV weather, sadly no luck, shower and enjoy lunch in the paeca and quiet of our little garden in full bloom before we set off for a walk. We did not want to go far so avoided the busy seafront and drove to Felixstowe Ferry parking behid the Martello tower! It was then down to the jetty, through the boatyard and out onto the Deben path and had a lovely walk, ending up at Kings Fleet, it was a tad on the breezy side, but nice and mild. Sadly my heel continues to play me up making walking a little painfull and Mags back and neck are not great, we are a couple of crocks but we will not give up and make an effort to get out in nature every day! We spotted a Muctjac deer munching away in a wheat field, we waited ages but it would not put its head up! After walking 2.50 we were pleased to get back to the van so we could head for home to put our feet up with a cuppa, homemade cake and ibprofin:) It was still a top day!!!!
